Biography
Lwandle Shanti ka Benjamin is a proudly transgender woman, vocalist, broadcaster, and creative powerhouse. Born on 30 March 1994 in the vibrant township of Madadeni in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, her calling to the world of media and entertainment was evident from a young age.

Her professional journey is a testament to her versatility and drive. In 2016, Lwandle gained invaluable behind-the-scenes experience as a runner for the prestigious South African Music Awards (SAMAs). Later that same year, she transitioned into broadcasting, joining Gagasi FM as a newsreader and intern journalist. By 2017, she was stepping into the spotlight as a headline performer for the Durban event “Something Afrikan” and expanding her industry expertise by working in wardrobe for MTV Africa’s hit dance show, Gqom Nation.
After honing her skills, Lwandle returned to radio in 2020 as a newsreader at Vuma FM. Her undeniable charisma and talent led to a major on-air role in 2023, when she joined Newcastle FM to host their midday show. In this position, she not only captivated audiences but also significantly boosted the station’s listenership, solidifying her reputation as a magnetic on-air personality.
Now, Lwandle Shanti is embarking on the most personal chapter of her artistic evolution: releasing the music she has carried in her spirit for years. With her unique voice, authentic lived experience, and unyielding creative fire, she is rising as one of South Africa’s most dynamic emerging talents.
